Easy, convenient, and worry-free, Shop Pay Installments allows you to pay for your purchase over time with one of three different payment plans.
Shop Pay Installments is an alternative payment option through Shop Pay that allows you to break down your purchase into multiple, smaller payments so that you don't have to pay for it all at once.
Shop Pay Installments are powered and serviced through Affirm.
With a payment plan, you're essentially taking out a small loan on your order and paying it back over time, a little bit like how you would for a mortgage or an auto loan. When you place your order, Affirm pays us for it in full. You'll then pay back Affirm over the course of several weeks or several months, depending on the payment plan you choose.
Checking out with Shop Pay Installments is easy—all you need to do is add the item(s) you want to the cart, and then hit the Checkout button from the cart. After that:
- Log in to (or create) your Shop account
- Select the "Pay in installments" option under the payment section
- Click the "Continue to payment plans" button
- Verify the requested information
- Follow the steps to select a plan and complete checkout
When you select the option to pay through installments, you'll need to be approved for the loan by Affirm before the order can be completed. You'll be asked to provide some personal information to Affirm to check your eligibility, and you'll get a quick decision in real time. It's a simple, streamlined process that doesn't require any physical paperwork.

For some plans (typically the 12 month plan), interest will be charged by Affirm. Please take time to review the terms of the plan you're considering before placing your order to avoid any unexpected surprises.
The order will be processed and shipped at the same rate as any other order. When you use Shop Pay Installments, Affirm is essentially fronting the money for the order and you are then paying them back over time. So we're fully paid by Affirm right at the start, allowing the order to ship right away.
Shop Pay Installments offers a couple different preset plans. Depending on the cost of your order, you may be able to choose between a couple different plans, or you might only qualify for one. You will not be able to modify how often the payments are due, nor how many you can split the order value into. However, you can reduce the total number of payments if you pay off the balance faster.
Sometimes, but not always—it all depends on what Affirm qualifies you for. If you do need to pay a down payment, it'll serve as your first installment and will be collected at the time you place the order.
Yes! Payment through installments does not nullify the warranty or the return period for your order.
You'll receive a full refund once the item has been received and processed, which means that you'll be refunded anything that you've already paid and any future payments will be cancelled. If you select a plan that includes interest, the interest might not be refunded*.
If the item is still on its way back to us when another payment is due, you will be charged for that payment. Once the item is received and processed, however, that payment will be refunded just like the others. To avoid any penalties to your credit score, do not stop making payments ahead of time.

No. Once you have placed the order you have agreed to the terms of the payment plan, and you will not be able to switch to a different plan. However, if the order has not been processed yet, you may be able to cancel and reorder, or you can return the order for a refund to put an end to the payment plan.
If the order hasn't been packed for shipment yet, we can cancel the order and you can place a new one using a different payment method.
If the order has progressed past the processing stage, we can no longer cancel it. You can either return it and reorder, or you can contact Affirm to pay off the outstanding balance (which will effectively cancel the payment plan). There is no penalty for paying off the plan early.
At this time, Shop Pay Installments allows payment plans for U.S. and Canada orders only.
Checking your eligibility does not affect your credit score. However, once the payment plan terms are accepted, your payments may be reported to a credit bureau. Late payments or partial payments could potentially have a negative impact on your score and affect your ability to use Shop Pay Installments in the future.
